Dear Never-ending Blanket from Hell,

I've been working on you off and on for over a year and even though I am 2/3rds of the way finished, I really just want to rip you out completely and move on.  I know.  I know.  I've taken you all over the country in this past year and shown you off and worked on you on planes and boats and even couches but I haven't picked you up for a while because I really, really think that if I do, I'm going to start ripping.  I love the yarn and the pattern is wonderful but there is something about you that makes me want to let you go and use the yarn for 500 dishcloths instead.  So, for now, your home is that gorgeous wicker basket by my armchair and I'm going to pretend you don't exist.  Maybe I'll eventually find the courage to undo many hundreds of hours of work and move on.

Also OMG I know where you're coming from. I've got my version of that blanket on my lap. I don't have any urge to rip it, but I tend to stuff it in a chest for months at a time because I cannot deal with how much is left to knit.

My friends keep talking me out of ripping it out and I have seriously put in hundreds of hours and I can't even identify why I'm unhappy with it except I just am.

This note to project helped me to clarify my relationship with this blanket some though so thanks for the comm. It was a good idea.

Well, if you're going to undo it, maybe now-er rather than later, in the "hours of work spent on it" scale.

I sometimes get that urge in my ass-length hair project.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, a few more hours working on it won't make that much of a difference. I tried to figure out how many hundreds of hours I have worked on it but then decided it wouldn't make me feel any better so I stopped. I'm just going to let it sit until I'm sure about the decision to rip or not to rip. I can always rip later if I don't do it now but once I rip, there is no going back.
